A type of new media that could be created is using virtual reality (VR) to do point-of-view (POV) tours of a certain area. If a person cannot afford to travel somewhere, or just wants to explore a new place for a short amount of time, they can "hire" someone from a company that does these tours to "take" the customer around somewhere like Times Square in New York, for example. The customer would give instructions on where to go, and using a chat that appears in the worker's VR headset, they can ask them to look up at buildings or other attractions. The customer would also have a VR headset, or they can just view the video through a type of live stream.
Hi Jasmine,
ReplyDeleteVirtual Reality is certainly a new technology that has gained popularity and with any new technology there are many uncharted territories. It can be used for a wide range of benefits and can provide a new type of leisure. It can be used for entertainment and educational purposes. For the most part I've only heard about it being used for gaming, and more uses should be invented for the future, such as what you have mentioned. Virtual reality creates a simulated experience of being somewhere else in real time, but with the comfort of not having to move or actually go anywhere. As with any new technology, concerns should be raised. Creating a virtual reality can come with physical and psychological effects. This can also affect interactions with one another as well as with the environment. These are things that should be considered.
This is actually a smart way to save money but also get a view of how other places look like. This is more advance from just seeing picture of how the place looks like but seeing it up, close and personal makes it even better like you are there in person. I believe this will create employment for people and also give people the chance to see how other places look like.
ReplyDeleteHi Jasmine,
ReplyDeleteI have a similar idea with you when I am doing this blog post, however, I have a much broad idea about VR technology. I am sharing that users can explore and view webpages without the need of touching a device. Hopefully, in the future, there are more and more fields that use VR technology to engage people's experiences.
